France is a country located, primarily, in Western Europe. It also includes overseas regions and territories in the Americas and the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans, giving it one of the largest discontinuous exclusive economic regions in the world. Some of the Enlightenment occurred in French intellectual circles, and major scientific breakthroughs and inventions, such as the discovery of oxygen (1778) and the first hot air balloon carrying passengers (1783), were achieved by French scientists.
France is an incredible destination that will captivate both your heart and your taste buds. With its world-renowned cuisine, charming cities, sweeping vineyards, and rich culture, France truly has it all. You could visit Paris, Bordeaux, Nice, Provence, Marseille, Strasbourg, Lyon, Mont Saint-Micheal, Cannes, Chamonix and more.
France has 45 sites inscribed in the UNESCO’s World Heritage list and features cities or sites of high cultural interest (Paris being the foremost, but also Loire Valley, Toulouse, Strasbourg, Bordeaux, Lyon and others), beaches and seaside resorts, ski resorts, as well as rural regions that many enjoy for their beauty and tranquillity (green tourism). Small and picturesque French villages of quality heritage are promoted through the association ‘Les Plus Beaux Villages de France’ (literally “The Most Beautiful Villages of France”). There’s also a “Remarkable Gardens” label, a list of over two hundred gardens classified by the Ministry of Culture. This label is established to promote gardens and parks in France.
